Only 29 per cent of people would tell their best friend if their partner was cheating

Turns out, we don't tell our best friends everything

Would you tell your best friend if you knew their partner was cheating on them? Or would you keep schtum to protect your friendship?
Apparently, most of us would choose the latter, if this latest survey is to be believed.
The survey by tombola in honour of National Best Friend Day today (June 8) examined 1,700 friendships across the UK.
Only 29 per cent of participants said they would tell a best friend if their partner had been caught cheating.
But, over half (54%), said they’d tell their BFF if they didn’t like their new hairstyle and 58 per cent said they’d comment if their bessie put on a few pounds.

In happier news, the study found that the average UK adult has 3.7 close friends, with over half of us claiming our parents are our best friend (this was especially true among Northerners).
And our most important must-have for a best mate? Loyalty (according to 78 per cent of those surveyed).
Just don’t ask them to get involved with your love life.
