An Italian doctor who was treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone has contracted the disease, the Italian health ministry said today, November 24.

The doctor will be treated at the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases in the Italian capital, a statement by the Italian health ministry added.
Health Minister, Beatrice Lornezin speaking on the condition of the doctor, who is Italy’s first confirmed case of the disease, said that he experienced symptoms of the disease overnight but was well enough to eat breakfast and drink beverages.
A Cuban doctor who also contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone has been flown to Geneva for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
