The Red Devils meet Hull City in the Premier League this weekend, with Falcao in contention for a return to the team after a lengthy absence in an injury-wridden time at Old Trafford so far.
While the Colombian international has not exactly settled and found his best form in English football so far, scoring just one goal for United since joining the club on loan from AS Monaco for the 2014/15 campaign.
Still, van Persie’s form has been something of a concern as well, with the Dutchman looking some way off his best, which has also followed an unconvincing season last term, when he was also the victim of some injury niggles throughout the year.
Although the 31-year-old has been a favourite of van Gaal’s at international level when they worked together with the Netherlands, the new United boss is showing him no favouritism and now looks set to drop him from the side to make way for the returning Falcao.
