Pics: English hockey team strip naked in fight against homophobia

Men that have sense! Stripping naked for a cause...:-). 17 members of the University of Nottingham hockey team stripped naked to fight homophobia in sports. The team were filmed playing hockey naked, and then talking about discrimination against gays in sports in a video released last week.

The team did the video in collaboration with Voice Your Rights Project, a student group in their school whose mission is for all people "to live in a society in which every person is respected and treated as equals."

VYRP said they came up with the idea for the guys to strip naked because they knew that would get them more attention. I got screen grabs from the video..check it out after the cut...

Photo: Kogi State University lecturer killed

A Kogi State university lecturer in the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof Otitolaiye was killed on Friday Nov. 21st in the state. According to students who are asking police to investigate his murder, he was on his way to to eat at a place near Stadium Road in Ayingba, when some armed men double-crossed his vehicle at gun point, put him inside their vehicle and drove away.

His body was found the next day Saturday Nov. 22nd at Ejule village in Ofu LGA of Kogi state. They say his wife is heavily pregnant. The police have started investigating the incident.

Mrs. Abidemi Ronke Ekanem who was assaulted as a growing child experienced brutal rape at the tender age of 19 in the year 2001.  Thirteen years after, now 32 years old and married, she is still full of fury. Her anger stems from the brutality and frequency of rape cases which is not helped by the erroneous societal notions that leave the victims suffering alone in silence. This led her to found a Non-Governmental Organisation which she named End Rape and Sexual Abuse (ERSA).

She recounted her traumatic experience and also highlighted the lasting effects to Joke Kujenya.
