Since both managers embarked on new Premier League challenges this season, the history behind Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has come to the fore.
The pair worked together at Barcelona in the late 90s and had a close working relationship but the partnership began to crack when the pair met up again in different roles at Dutch giants Ajax.
In 2004, when Koeman was the manager at the Amsterdam Arena, van Gaal returned to his old club as Technical Director and the pair clashed after having conflicting views about how to take the club forward.
But as the photo below shows, van Gaal and Koeman even got in each other's way on the field when the United manager's Sparta Rotterdam met Koeman and his Groningen side back in 1982. Van Gaal infamous temper shines through in the photo and sets the tone for Monday night's encounter between the two.
The pair met as managers back in 2006 when Koeman was briefly in charge of Feyenoord and van Gaal had moved on to manage AZ Alkmaar and the United boss can take his side above Southampton with a win at St. Mary's on Monday night.
Despite both undergoing large transitions with their squads in the summer, Koeman's Southampton have been the surprise of the season but have lost their last two whilst United are the in-form team of the Premier League over the last five games.
