Manchester United’s Ander Herrera praised team-mate and fellow Spaniard David de Gea and believes he is one of the best players in the world and will become the best ‘keeper in the world.
De Gea kept another clean sheet for Louis van Gaal’s Man United as they thrashed Hull City 3-0 at Old Trafford yesterday, with De Gea forced to make just two saves.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Herrera was full of praise for the shot-stopper: “He has been fantastic and is one of the best players in the world at 24 years old.
“He wants to help the team get to the top of the league, like me, like everyone. We feel he can become one of the best if not the best goalkeeper in the world.”
Though De Gea has long been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, if he keeps up his fine work between the sticks he may find himself gifted with a new deal.
The Spanish duo have been in fine form this season, but Herrera has been suffering from an injury over the past few weeks.
Herrera and De Gea will be hoping for a fourth win on the trot when they face Mark Hughes’ Stoke City on Tuesday evening as they look to possibly leapfrog rivals Man City.
